My Story
A life shaped by leadership, service, faith, and curiosity.
I was born and raised in Flint, Michigan, and later built much of my professional and community life in the Dallas–Fort Worth area. My experiences across technology, public service, missions, leadership development, entrepreneurship, ministry, and research have taught me that meaningful impact rarely happens inside one discipline.
I have always been drawn to difficult questions and high-responsibility environments:
- How do organizations respond when systems fail?
- How do leaders build trust under pressure?
- How can technology serve people rather than overwhelm them?
- How do faith, history, culture, and public life shape the way communities understand themselves?
- What does responsible service look like across cultural and national boundaries?
Those questions have guided my work.
Professional
My technology career has centered on major incident management, problem management, technical project leadership, process improvement, operational resilience, investigations, regulatory coordination, and cross-functional execution.
I have worked in environments where teams had to make decisions quickly, communicate clearly, investigate failures, document root causes, coordinate stakeholders, and improve systems after high-impact events.
- Leading and investigating hundreds of major technology incidents.
- Facilitating retrospectives, root-cause analyses, and corrective-action programs.
- Coordinating technical, operational, compliance, security, legal, and business stakeholders.
- Building escalation guides, governance processes, reporting practices, and operational improvements.
- Translating highly technical issues into clear executive and stakeholder communication.
- Supporting organizations operating in regulated and high-accountability environments.
Leadership
Leadership, to me, is not a title. It is the willingness to accept responsibility, develop other people, remain calm under pressure, and move a group toward a meaningful objective.
My leadership experience includes professional leadership development, project and process leadership, public service, missions, ministry, youth development, community initiatives, and cross-organizational collaboration.
I previously served as Student Director of the Professional Leadership Program at the University of North Texas. I have also served in church leadership, mission-team development, public-service settings, community advocacy, and initiatives requiring coordination across diverse teams.
Service and public responsibility
I served as a Dallas County grand juror, reviewing more than 1,000 criminal cases during my term. That experience strengthened my appreciation for evidence, due process, public responsibility, discernment, and the human consequences of institutional decisions.
I also helped organize the #Denton2Flint water initiative in response to the Flint water crisis, connecting my Texas community with the city that raised me.
Faith and mission
My Christian faith shapes my understanding of service, justice, responsibility, leadership, and the dignity of every person. Through missions and ministry, I have served children, students, adults, incarcerated individuals, churches, community leaders, and families in the United States and internationally.
I do not view missions as tourism or one-directional charity. I view mission work as partnership, humility, preparation, relationship, mutual learning, and long-term responsibility.
